Italian diplomatic authorities are Italian Embassies, Consulates, or Cultural Institutes, etc. in countries other than Italy.
With reference to foreign study qualifications, the competent diplomatic authority is normally the Italian Embassy/Consulate closest to the place where the awarding institution is located; that is so when the qualification concerned belongs to the education system of the same country.
Instead, when the awarding institution is part of the education system of another country, the competent diplomatic authority is the Italian Embassy/Consulate General in the country of the education system of reference.
The addresses of Italian Embassies and Consulates abroad, listed by alphabetical order of the countries where they are based, are available online at Ambasciate e consolati
With reference to foreign study qualifications and related documents, on request of the holders or of their delegates, the competent Italian Embassies or Consulates perform three main operations, commonly referred to as "perfezionamento documenti" (go to Consular Formalization of Documents).
