Short form for "Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region".
The mentioned Convention, worked out on the joint initiative of the Council of Europe and of the European Region of Unesco, is a multilateral agreement aiming to promote reciprocal academic recognition between the contracting parties.
The Lisbon Recognition Convention was signed in Lisbon on 11 April 1997. Its full text (English version), along with the explanatory report, is available online at Conventions.coe.int.
The recognition of school leaving qualifications for admission to higher education studies is dealt within section IV of the Convention.
